Viking refined the hull of the 61ft convertible sportfish that was produced from 2001-2006, for a drier ride and for improved performance in head seas. In 2003, prop tunnels were added to enhance performance (less drag) and reduce draft. DEVOTION’s owners upgraded to the fuel efficient, highly maneuverable, smooth running VEEM Interceptor propellers in 2022 for advantageous tournament fishing. The MAQ Omni sonar installed in DEVOTION has a retractable transducer, minimizing underwater appendages, and is stabile in rough seas. The Viking 61 is fully cored for weight savings and greater stiffness that are necessary for performance; DEVOTION has the optional 1,480-hp MTU diesels that were capable of cruising at 27 knots and reaching a top speed of 36-37 knots. Power assisted hydraulic steering and single lever controls on either side of the tournament-style helm pod, give the Viking 61 accurate, responsive handling. The comfortable mezzanine seating was added in 2020 and has a large bait freezer, drink cooler and more built in under seating and steps. DEVOTION offers relief from a glaring sun with a cockpit sunshade that extends from the bridge overhang and is secured to two stainless-steel poles in aft coaming rod holders.

DEVOTION features the standard Viking 61 accommodations layout of 3 staterooms/3 heads; the ensuite master stateroom with king berth located midships on portside, ensuite guest stateroom with centerline queen berth in forepeak, and a guest or crew stateroom with over/under bunks on starboard side with private access to the guest/day head that is also accessed from the companionway. Stacked washer and dryer units are at foot of companionway on starboard side. The salon features a huge U-shaped sofa on portside opposite counter height cabinetry that house the entertainment electronics and TV, storage, and icemaker. Electrical panel is in aft starboard corner cabinet. A built-in dinette is forward of cabinetry and directly opposite to open U-shaped galley that is fully equipped for extended fishing trips. All appliances are concealed under counters, in cabinetry, or in counter for the clean, uncluttered look Viking is known for. Joinery work is superb with high gloss finished teak, adding an elegant traditional touch. Built-in storage is abundant, for provisions, rods, tackle, and other equipment.
