Description

From the Manufacturer

After launching 260+, the Lagoon 400 has found a new lease of life through Nauta Design's work on the boat's interior fittings. Suggestions received from owners have enabled Lagoon to produce a boat that is even more welcoming, with a greater level of comfort, and resolutely modern: the result is the Lagoon 400 S2, a nod to its famous predecessors, the Lagoon 410 S2 and 380 S2. Like its predecessors, the Lagoon 400 S2 is designed for coastal or ocean cruises. It can comfortably accommodate 8 with its 4 double cabins, elegantly fitted, spacious interior, and her cockpit and salon on the same level.

INTRODUCTION

From the listing broker

**This vessel has her final sailing course booked for mid-June, and will be available for inspection, survey, and purchase in Annapolis, MD on or around June 25, 2023. There may be an opportunity - with advanced notice and flexibility of schedule - to preview her at an earlier date, either in Nassau (on 5/27) or in St Augustine (6/2-6/11). This will be at the discretion of the sellers and depends on exact timing vs weather vs project status, please reach out for more details or to discuss options for showings.**

“NEVER SAY NEVER” is a well-kept and heavily upgraded example of the popular, almost ubiquitous Lagoon 400S2, boasting the desirable 4-cabin / 4-head interior layout. She benefits from a significant refit in 2019 and from meticulous professionally licensed owners who spare no expense to keep her in top shape. Since they purchased her (from Europe) in 2019 the boat has been based in the Bahamas hosting high-end, live-aboard sailing courses. These courses are all managed by and captained by her licensed owners and sailing instructors, not to be conflated with a fleet charter boat *The current owners specifically sourced the boat from Europe where sailing seasons are short (less wear and tear) and where there is no history of hurricane damage. Each summer the boat undergoes an open-checkbook maintenance period at Multitech of Fort Lauderdale, one of the most respected catamaran yards in Florida. The sellers are now pursuing a larger boat for their sailing program, thus presenting a rare opportunity to purchase this desirable model on the East Coast.

INTERIOR

NEVER SAY NEVER boasts the desirable 4-cabin / 4-head configuration inside. The two forward cabins offer double berths, and the two aft cabins offer larger ‘boat queen’ berths. Each cabin has its own private head & shower located amidships, between the cabins. This arrangement lends itself to maximum distance and therefore privacy between cabins. Some versions of this boat were offered with an additional crew cabin in the port bow plus an additional crew head in the starboard bow. NEVER SAY NEVER opted instead for storage lockers in this space, though a future owner could convert as a retrofit if desired.

The main salon is palatial and comfortably accommodates 8-10 guests around the large table. The galley and nav station are integrated into this open-concept salon which allows for social cooking, passage planning, and watch-standing - all at deck level with 360* views and as well as easy access via a single-level transition into the aft cockpit. This design has proven itself as the popular and effective ‘go-to’, not just in the L400 but in many other multihulls across a wide spectrum of size and price.

EXTERIOR

The exterior layout of the 400S2 is conducive to easy shorthanded sailing, and comfortable live-aboard cruising. Crew and guests enjoy a seamless transition from the salon to the shaded aft cockpit via a large sliding glass door, and all areas of the cockpit feel connected with the nav station, galley, helm, and exterior seating with sight and audio lines to each space. There is even a sliding window that connects the galley to the cockpit - this allows the cook or crew to be social with all others at all times, no matter how hard they’re sailing! Spacious well-ventilated engine bays offer easy access to the machinery from the deck, which sure beats a hot, confined engine ‘room’ in a bilge. The foredeck and trampoline offer acres of room to lay out in the sun for the whole crew. A well-thought-out and ergonomic rig and deck plan allows for single handed operation of the rig and sails from the helm. Often overlooked, the excellent sightlines from the helm help with safe docking and close quarters maneuvering - a real issue for many multihulls, especially those with flybridge helms. In summary, this design lends itself well to all aspects of boating, from offshore passagemaking, to postcard cruising, to hanging out in style on the hook.
