PHANTOM is an extremely well maintained, custom-built Hinckley SW-52 originally commissioned by a very experienced sailor and yachtsman who insisted on the finest throughout the vessel. She features the three-cabin / two-head layout with owner’s cabin located aft, and extensive equipment geared for offshore cruising. Her many optional upgrades include carbon in-mast furling, teak decks, variable lighting, wood inlays and other custom details. The current, second owner purchased her in 2009 and has sailed exclusively along the east coast, primarily in Maine where the owner has a home. She has consistently been maintained over the years with no expense spared and is in near perfect condition. Many recent upgrades include new sails, electronics, brand new hull paint and much more as noted herein.

SAILS
PHANTOM was built using the Hinckley DualGuard™ composite construction and the patented SCRIMP© process. Outer skin of Kevlar®/E-glass by Dupont greatly increases the strength of the hull against any damage caused by impacts. In addition, she has an inner skin of carbon fiber. This all ensures the hull to be of superior stiffness and tremendous strength to overall weight ratios, along with providing greater resistance to water osmosis, increased hull strength against impact damage and excellent thermal/acoustic insulation. High stress areas have inner core removed and reinforced with additional layers of fiberglass for strength and inner core protection. The deck is one-piece resin infused using the SCRIMP© process.
The hull design features a keel/centerboard configuration with board up draft of only 5’ – 10”. Her board down deep draft of 11” – 10”, combined with the NACA foil-shaped centerboard and elliptical profile, help to maximize windward performance. The centerboard tip is ballasted with 125 lbs. of lead to ensure negative buoyancy. And her balanced high aspect spade rudder is designed to further enhance performance and maneuverability.
The topsides are finished with Awlgrip Flag Blue with double white boot top and gold cove – all freshly painted spring 2023. Rubrails at sheer are painted to match hull with stainless steel half round, and there are (4) custom hull ports: (2) in main salon and (1) in each forward stateroom. Deck finish is light cream gelcoat with matching nonskid molded-in on house top, and laid teak side decks, cockpit seats and cockpit sole (teak refurbished 2019).
