This masterpiece of teak craftsmanship is not only luxurious, but custom built and fitted to be highly fishable. After all, Sunny Briggs was one of the Outer Banks pioneering sportfish builders who fished the charter boats from an early age and learned boatbuilding from the Carolina legends! LOW KEY has all the advantages of the Steve French/Applied Concepts designed hull and CNC engineered jig, along with modern materials that enhance performance and efficiency…and comfortable, dry ride.
A major component of LOW KEY’s excellent maneuverability and enhanced efficiency are her 1150hp CAT C18 diesels that are paired with ZF Pod 400 HD transmissions with ZF electronic controls. Pod drives eliminate the need for shafts, struts, and rudders, and are more hydrodynamic than the traditional shaft/rudder system. They operate independently of one another via easy joystick control to provide vectored thrust in any direction, making thrusters unnecessary. The pod drives allow LOW KEY to carve tighter turns at speed and make it easy to dock and back up on a fish.
