Broker Remarks
Total reconstruction. 100% new wiring and plumbing and mechanical systems including twin Cummins diesels replacing gas engines, a diesel generator, new fuel and water tanks and air conditioning. The owner avoided the temptation to install the steel pipe flybridge station that is on the PILAR but otherwise this is the boat. All running gear components except the rudders were replaced.
Modern electrical wiring is concealed, and period wiring is run thru period correct copper tubing. Copper countertops and sinks, concealed air conditioning, hidden breaker panel, etc. The interior layout was slightly modified but greatly improved and built in period correct finishes and fixtures. AMIGO is equipped with a private head with holding tank, a spacious and convertible dinette, and a forward stateroom with foredeck access hatch. She easily and very quietly cruises at 15 knots and will top out around 18 plus knots, heavy.
Wooden boat lovers, Hemmingway aficionados or both should quickly inspect the AMIGO as her owner has done his thing and is reluctantly but seriously selling her on. The build quality that went into this keel up refit is finished to exceptionally high standards. While she belongs in the Smithsonian, she is absolutely ideal for cruising or fishing. Far from a project, AMIGO is ready for daily use. She would make a lovely and economical great loop boat and she can be shipped worldwide on her custom cradle.
